NIAC Action is proud to endorse Dary Rezvani, a small-business owner, immigrant, and millennial raised in California’s Central Valley. A first-generation Iranian-American, Dary was raised in Fresno, CA, attending both Fresno City College and the University of California, Fresno. Dary is running for State Center Community College District Trustee Area 3 because he wants to ensure budget cuts don’t negatively impact students, compensation for educators, and tuition. He is also dedicated to protecting the union workers that were displaced by the privatization of the community college bookstore and keeping the cost of books affordable for students.

Dary is passionate about representing the Iranian-American community, particularly in public service. During his congressional campaign, tensions between the US and Iran were high and when the country was at the brink of war with Iran, Dary used his platform to speak against the Trump administration’s military actions. His top three issues also focused on immigration, improved access to health care, and climate change. After losing the Democratic primary, Dary was encouraged by several members of the local community, including members of the city council, to run for local office. He is now using his earlier experiences of the congressional campaign and increased name recognition to build a stronger, more focused campaign.

In addition to being encouraged by the local establishment, Dary has been endorsed by the Fresno County Democratic Central Committee (FCDCC), Fresno County Young Dems, Councilmember Mark Rodriguez, Councilmember Jewel Hurtado, The Fresno Tea (local news), Community College Teachers Union, Central Valley Labor Board, Central Valley Labor Council (AFL-CIO affiliate). Dary is also currently under consideration for an official endorsement by Senator Bernie Sanders.

As a former Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress (CA-22), Rezvani challenged the notorious pro-Trump candidate Rep. Devin Nunes. In 2020, Dary continues to champion a bold, progressive platform on fighting the climate crisis, the Muslim Ban, and corporate greed. NIAC Action is proud to have endorsed Rezvany in the race for CA-22 in 2018 and in 2020 for State Center Community College District Trustee Area 3.
